BOOM!
With the release of the biggest project I have done close at hand i follow the unknown path of Festival preparation. Yesterday i entered SUNDANCE 2010. today i will be entering and SXSWLA Film Festival 2010. Each Fest requires a lengthy application, and background info on the film. I am getting crazy already by just going through the application process. In the meantime, i am finishing the actual short film. Yes, i know what you're thinking. "Is it "normal" to have a film entered into a festival, when it isn't even completed yet?" The answer is that I don't know? I don't know really how other directors, or filmmakers, or whatever it is I'm trying to be, get to where they are, I just know there is NO REAL FORMULA to it!
With that being said, I'm very confident in the 3 wise men (as i also like to call them) that will save the day. these wise men or "Mechanics" are Jared Brower who is my VFX Supervisor & Inferno Artist, Sean Wilson who is my CGI Artist (he makes digital blood!!) & lastly "the Magician" Matt Pittman my Composer/Sound Designer (thelightfantasticmusic.com) who makes EVERYTHING you hear! With these incredible talents behind me making the butcher the best it can be i am confident that i will make this the BEST PIECE i have yet to make!!So for now, i am off to edit some more Anime for the kiddies, tonight i finish up on line on the butcher, and meet with Sean to see how the blood is looking!keep you all posted! thanks for your support!
late!
"It has been a while.."Hello all, i have been away for a while, its hard to keep up with blogging. (i commend those that are capable!) I have a bit to to cover & i will try and not ramble!FIRST, "Butcher of San Antone" the music video i have made for Mike Herrera's TUMBLEDOWN is going splendidly. I have only a week and a half until its completion. The status of it is currently finishing a CGI blood pass as well as final touches in the On-Line Editing process. I am blessed to be surrounded by a group of incredible messiah like artists, who are making magic happen in post-production.When the music video is finally finished and signed off on by the record label and the band, it will get ready for its "Roll Out". this is the media release of the video to online websites, TV channels, etc etc etc...The short film version that i have made from the music video is the biggest thing to me right now! "The Butcher of San Antone" is a 10 min short film that i have made in the wake of the music video. The short film is exciting because it is the first thing that i will be entering into film festivals! the first one i am entering into is the fantastic and long admired SUNDANCE Film Festival 2010.In addition to the release of the music video. We will be having a very LARGE & over the top "Premiere Party"! i am also hoping that i can use this opportunity to raise some funds, for more festival submissions. Each fest requires an application and application fee (they start to add up).NEXT, i am also working on the launch of my website around the same time as the release of the butcher. joethevisualist.com will be a great site to showcase my work, as well as keep up with whats going on with me. I am very excited about it, and hope that it will help generate some more exposure for me as a director. The release of the music video, is creating some buzz and i have been approached by some interesting people who admire my work, and who would like to work with me. Steven Gottlieb of videostatic.com has offered to make me the first director to be part of his sites "New Directors Meat Market" where he will showcase and send email blasts notifying Director Reps & Production companies, about quickly emerging new Directors. This is EXTREMELY EXCITING for me, because signing with a Rep, or a Production Company will allow professionals who seek out music videos & TV Commercials means that THEY find ME jobs!..so keep your fingers crossed for me.LAST, i am currently working on several scripts with my usual creative team (Kelli Howard, Matt Pittman, Tomm Gillies, the Mad Dog & bob) to start looking toward tackling my first Feature. There is some great work getting done, and i hope that we can only focus more, and really get some great pages together! keep ya posted! So in all i have a lot of irons in the fire and i cant wait... the energy in the air has shifted around me, and i can feel HUGE changes in the works! im excited..talk with you soon.Joe the Visualist
